Alejandro Garnacho is likely to receive the coveted No. 7 jersey.
Manchester United will have to make important decisions on the fate of numerous academy graduates ahead of Erik ten Hag’s second season as manager.
One of the most important could include the breakout star of the previous season, Alejandro Garnacho.
According to The Manchester Evening News, the Argentine might be offered the chance to wear the coveted No 7 jersey, one of the club’s most iconic shirt numbers.

Garnacho is the new number seven.
Garnacho, who presently wears the number 49, was electrifying in the previous season, with both the manager of Manchester United and his teammates admiring his boldness.
The legendary jersey has previously been worn by George Best, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese wearing it most recently before his bitter exit last season.
Since the Portugal captain left the first time, it has been a bad number, with Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia, Memphis Depay, and Alexis Sanchez all failing to shoulder the weight of the shirt.
Before Ronaldo’s return home a couple of seasons ago, Edinson Cavani managed to live up to expectations.
Garnacho might be the next rising star to wear the No. 7 jersey.
“Manchester United are considering making Alejandro Garnacho their new number seven as his stratospheric rise continues. Garnacho would become the first teenage recipient of the No.7 since Ronaldo in 2003.”
Last season, the 18-year-old made 34 appearances for the first squad in all competitions, scoring five goals and assisting five others.
Ten Hag was so delighted by his achievements that he agreed to a new long-term contract for the Argentina international.
In 2020, United signed the teenager from Atletico Madrid when he was only 16 years old, and he was named the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year in his rookie season.
He moved from strength to strength, making his debut the following season and motivating the U-18 squad to their first FA Youth Cup victory in 11 years against Nottingham Forest in May 2022.
