Arsenal Advised to Sign 20-Goal Striker to Compete with Man City and Close Premier League Gap

The Gunners have been advised to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney to compete with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

Former Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere has pushed the club to make a summer move for Brentford attacker Ivan Toney. The 27-year-old has impressed in his second Premier League season, scoring 20 goals for the Bees and steering them to mid-table with ease despite their lack of resources.

Toney’s manager, Thomas Frank, believes that if he were to join a “big six” team, he would score considerably more than 20 goals. “Of course not,” the Dane said when asked if he would exchange his striker for Manchester City’s Erling Haaland following his impressive debut season in the Premier League.

“If Ivan was playing in a top-four club, he would score 25-plus goals. I’m convinced about that. I’m very happy he is playing for us and not another club and I think it is remarkable what he has done.”

With Haaland in the ranks and the Gunners missing a notable goal scorer, adding someone like Toney may help them reduce the gap on City. Former Arsenal striker Aliadiere believes it is a move the club should make as the summer transfer window approaches.

He told BoyleSports: “Every time I see Ivan Toney play, he impresses me. I think he would bring something that Arsenal haven’t got. He’s got a presence, he holds the ball up and he’s good in the air. He’s a player I’ve always liked and this season in particular he’s been fantastic. I’d be very happy to see him at Arsenal.”

Given the emphasis on youth in signings thus far, it remains to be seen whether this is the type of move Mikel Arteta would undertake. However, it may assist them in capturing the Premier League crown.
