Arsenal’s Transfer Chief Edu Nearing Three Major Deals, Handing a Significant Boost to Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta may be able to safeguard his team’s future before the summer transfer window even opens.

Arsenal is allegedly close to re-signing three of their most prized players ahead of the summer transfer season. This would be a tremendous boost for Mikel Arteta and Edu, giving them confidence ahead of a concerted push to bolster the Gunners’ team.

Arsenal’s summer transfer ambitions have received a lot of attention, with £120 million-rated Declan Rice among their objectives. But, if Arteta and co. are to launch another title fight against Manchester City next season, guaranteeing the future of elite players presently at the Emirates Stadium will be a primary priority.

Bukayo Saka has contributed to more Premier League goals this season than any other Arsenal player. Although his contract is set to expire in 2024, the Arsenal academy graduate has 13 goals and 11 assists.

For months, speculation about his club future has raged, but talkSPORT claims that a new contract is in the works, with the 21-year-old becoming the club’s highest earner on £300,000 a week.

It is unclear whether it would be Saka’s base salary, but the total deal may throw a wrench in Arsenal’s compensation structure, which has been tightened in recent years.

Aaron Ramsdale and centre-back William Saliba are also close to signing new contracts. Both players have become fan favorites this season, but their current situations are enough to worry fans.

Ramsdale is nearing the conclusion of his contract, while Saliba’s contract expires in 2024, with the club having the option to extend it for another year. It won’t be long until Edu is under pressure to cash in while he can, unless new conditions can be negotiated.

The Gunners are said to be ‘near’ to finalising new contracts with Saka and Ramsdale, and they are ‘certain’ that Saliba will stay in north London. The Frenchman has been a significant miss under Arteta in recent weeks, with a back ailment ruling him out for the rest of the season.

After signing in 2019, the 22-year-old had to wait patiently for his moment in the Premier League, with three loan spells back to Ligue 1 fueling rumors that he could leave Arsenal last summer.

Gunners fans will hope that the side can live without him as Gabriel Magalhaes and back-up option Jakub Kiwior are charged with reducing the distance on Man City over the final three games of the season.
