Chelsea and the player have both agreed to a transfer to the club; the Blues are ‘prepared to wait’ for a ‘few days.’

Chelsea have agreed to sell Hakim Ziyech to Roma this month, and the Moroccan international has also said yes’ to the deal, but only if Nicolo Zaniolo leaves.

Ziyech has met with Jose Mourinho and ‘confirmed his liking’ for the Italian club.

They add that he is pleased because he will have a ‘guaranteed starting position’ under Mourinho in Rome, something that has not been available at Chelsea for some time.

Everton and Aston Villa are also interested in signing the Moroccan, but both the player and Chelsea ‘would want’ for the player to to move to Italy.

Transfer Updates

The Blues are willing to wait for Roma to complete a deal because they need to get rid of Zaniolo before they can do any business.

Chelsea are ‘prepared to wait’ for a deal to materialize for ‘a few days,’ but if it becomes evident that it will not, talks with Everton will be resumed.

Chelsea expects to pay somewhat more than €25 million for the former Ajax star, which is the same amount Roma expects to pay for Zaniolo.

Ziyech has a greater pay than the Italian midfielder, which would be an issue, but they can get past it in two ways: by leveraging the Italian Growth Decree and spreading the compensation package  over four or five years.

That would drop Ziyech’s wages, which are currently €6.5m and unaffordable but could drop to €5m and then even further with the application of the Growth Decree.
