Chelsea’resume’s negotiations for a £55 million trade to Everton following a failed January move.
Amadou Onana of Everton was on the Blues’ radar in January, and his position is being reviewed.
According to sources, Chelsea has rekindled its interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. The Blues were extensively connected with a January move for the Belgian, but a deal never materialized.
Onana, who only joined Everton last summer, was one of the Toffees’ finest performers in the 2022/23 season, helping the club maintain its Premier League membership.
After an outstanding first half of the season in England, Chelsea and the 21-year-old’s entourage held talks, but he stayed at Goodison Park and Enzo Fernandez was signed instead.

With Mauricio Pochettino looking for a new midfielder for next season, it has been claimed that the Blues have reignited their interest in the former Lille midfielder. Chelsea have resumed negotiations’ for Onana, according to Belgian writer Sacha Tavolieri, and are now displaying a strong interest’.
Fortunately for Pochettino, a deal could be struck, with Tavolieri claiming that Onana is willing to leave Everton this summer for a single season.
This season, Onana appeared in 35 games across all competitions for Everton, and he was instrumental in Sean Dyche’s midfield’s final-day survival mission. However, the Toffees’ financial predicament suggests that the box-to-box may leave for roughly £55 million.
Chelsea have already lost Manuel Ugarte to Paris Saint-Germain and are poised to lose Nicolo Barella and Declan Rice to other clubs. Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, and Conor Gallagher are all on their way out, leaving the west Londoners severely lacking in midfield.
It’s unknown whether Todd Boehly will be ready to sanction a move worth more than £50 million, but it’s more probable that they’ll try to include a player in a prospective deal.
