Chelsea’s Staff Demand Change: 23-Year-Old Player Pushes for More Starting Line-Up Appearances, Says Journalist

Chelsea have apparently told Frank Lampard that they would prefer him to select Joao Felix more frequently, but he is still entirely free to make his own team selection decisions.

Frank Lampard, Chelsea’s caretaker manager until the end of the season, has lost all six of his games in command. However, a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth at the weekend provided some relief.

The Blues now have four challenging Premier League matchups remaining in what has been a disastrous 2022/23 season.

According to acclaimed journalist Simon Phillips’ Substack, Chelsea officials have advised Lampard that they would like to see more of Joao Felix in games.

However, Phillips has stated that there has been no undue pressure placed on Lampard in terms of selecting the starting lineup. He’s certainly making his own judgments, as he’s only started Felix in two of his seven games in charge.

Felix joined the Blues on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid, so perhaps the club’s hierarchy wants to see if he’s worth bringing back to Stamford Bridge next year.

According to the Evening Standard, Atletico Madrid may be willing to loan Felix out next season for roughly £16 million. Chelsea is currently looking at ways to get the Portuguese attacker, who might cost £88 million to sign on a permanent basis.

We’d like to see more of Felix if Lampard believes he can help us get results in the coming games.

The talented forward came off the bench to score in Bournemouth’s win over the weekend, his third goal for Chelsea since signing earlier this year.

We’ll need to be at our best in the next four games, as we face three of the Premier League’s top four. This weekend also sees a match versus relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.
