Erik Ten Hag Reportedly Advised to Offload Ten Man Utd Players, Including Jadon Sancho
Manchester United manager Paul Parker has a plan to mount the club’s first serious title challenge in over a decade, but it involves a mass exodus of several high-profile players.
Erik ten Hag has been told that he must cut ten Manchester United first-team players if the club is to catch Manchester City and Arsenal.
Despite losing his first two Premier League games, including a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Brentford, the Dutch manager has overseen a meteoric turnaround at Old Trafford, ending the club’s long-awaited trophy hex with a League Cup final victory.
United are also still in the FA Cup and the Europa League, though a first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final year looks a long way off with 19 points to make up on league leaders Arsenal.
However, ex-Manchester United star Paul Parker has a plan for his former club to close the gap on Arsenal in 2023/24, even if it means sacrificing nearly a dozen of the club’s big hitters.
“I would say that 10 players from the current squad need to leave Man United this season, Parker told bettors. “Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Elanga, Wout Weghorst, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho and Antony all have to leave the club.”
Parker added: “And then we can always talk about players like Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and so on who don’t have a future at the club but they are quite obvious. A lot of the names that I mentioned are obvious because they are not playing and they want to play regularly.”
Weghorst, who impressed on loan from Championship side Burnley, is expected to be replaced by Tottenham Hotspur and England star Harry Kane when the transfer window opens in early June.
Kane, 29, has chosen United over Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Barcelona, and the Old Trafford hierarchy will begin talks about an £80 million transfer “within weeks.”
Newcastle United are keeping an eye on Scott McTominay’s situation ahead of a possible summer transfer, while captain Maguire is still unable to force his way back into starting contention.
