Erik ten Hag’s Plan to Generate £100 Million for Manchester United through Three Key Signings

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is eager to strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window, but a potential takeover complicates matters.

According to rumors, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag intends to sell seven players during the summer transfer window in order to raise up to £100 million. The Dutchman is presently working at Old Trafford on a tight budget. And he’s eager to bring in new players in attack, midfield, and defense as he aims to win the Premier League title next season.

Manchester United must be cautious with their finances this summer.

According to The Mirror, Ten Hag is willing to release six players in order to boost his squad.

According to reports, United manager Jose Mourinho is willing to let go of Harry Maguire, who has been in and out of the team since joining from Leicester in 2019.

Anthony Martial, who has been at Old Trafford for eight years, is another player who could be on his way out.

Fred and Scott McTominay, the much-maligned combo, have been judged surplus to requirements, with the pair linked with Fulham and Newcastle, respectively.

United are also willing to let go of Donny van de Beek and Anthony Elanga, who are struggling to make an impression.

According to the article, David De Gea might still continue at the club.

The Spain international’s contract is set to expire on Friday, making him a free agent.

United, on the other hand, are still in talks with De Gea about extending his contract.

The Red Devils offered the veteran £200,000—a-week in their last pitch, and they want their No. 1 to accept a pay cut.

De Gea and his crew believe Ten Hag has other priorities than buying a new first-choice goalkeeper.

It’s also been said that the Dutchman wants at least three new acquisitions to help steer his team to greater heights.

He wants to strengthen his defense and midfield.

Mason Mount is a major goal for the club, but Chelsea want up to £65 million to let their academy graduate go.

United are also determined to bring in a new center-forward.

However, signing Harry Kane is seen as ‘unrealistic’ unless Tottenham drop their expectations for their talisman.

That’s doubtful, given Daniel Levy’s refusal to trade a single player to Manchester United since Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.

Meanwhile, United legend Dwight Yorke weighs in on where the Red Devils need to improve.

And he believes they must do everything possible to bring Harry Kane or Kylian Mbappe.

“I don’t think Erik ten Hag has much time to try and make up that gap between Manchester United and Manchester City,” he said.

“Even though Manchester United have had a decent season, I felt they were still someway short, and until they fill that number 9 spot, that becomes a bit of an issue.

“I think the uncertainty with the takeover is always going to put in an element of doubt, but if I were to choose, then Kylian Mbappe would be my first choice without question.

“He’s young, obviously he’s unproven in the Premier League but he’s got class and quality and will be there for the next seven years.

“In that period, I’m sure he would bring success to United.

“For me, Mbappe would be a no brainer, but until the question of where the club is going and who will take over from the Glazers is solved, there will be big question marks, because that’s the only way the club would afford him.

“Harry Kane also fits the bill – if they are trying to get closer to challenging for the Premier League over the next two or three years, then he would be another ideal candidate.”
