Fabio Vieira will miss Portugal’s European U21 championship Due to an injury,

The midfielder did not play much in his debut season at the Emirates, but he is expected to return in better shape for the next season.

Participating in the U21 Euros would have given Vieira important playing time and the chance to improve his competitive ability.

However, Diego Moreira has been named captain of the Portuguese team for the competition in place of Vieira.

According to a statement from the Portuguese FA, as published by the Metro:

‘The captain of the Equipe das Quinas [Vieira] exhibits a medical ailment, and it was decided not to make the player accessible for the Under-21 Euro after evaluation and follow-up by the FPF’s Health and Performance Unit (USP).’

This is unfortunate for Vieira since the competition would have taught him a lot.

Getting regular game time at Arsenal is no longer easy, and that competition would have helped him stay healthy and better prepared for the upcoming season.

He hopes to recuperate in time for pre-season so that he may be a part of our team from the start of the next season.
