Arsenal ‘exploring’ move to sign ‘marvelous’ World Cup player

The Gunners are ‘investigating’ a deal for Moises Caicedo.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are ‘exploring’ a deal to capture Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The Gunners are rumored to be looking for a new midfielder as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his options in front of the back four.

The Premier League title contenders have been linked with summer moves for players such as West Ham’s Declan Rice, who is said to be interested in joining them, but additions this month are also not ruled out.

Caicedo, who has piqued the curiosity of Chelsea for the majority of this month, is also admired by Arsenal, who are looking into a possible trade, according to Romano.

It is believed that the Gunners have thrown their hat in the ring for Caicedo with Romano namedropping them as an interested party.

Transfer Updates

The journalist explained

“Three clubs are exploring Caicedo deal after new agents statement: Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are informed on the situation, as revealed on Monday.

“Brighton, not intentioned to sell unless they receive really huge proposal.”

The 21-year-old. who also featured for Ecuador at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, has been called Brighton’s ‘star player‘ by members of the press.

According to WhoScored, the tough-tackling ace’s stats back up that title, as he averaged Brighton’s highest percentage of successful challenges per 90 in the top division.

Caicedo, who is still relatively young, would be a long-term and quality addition for the Emirates Stadium, since he ranks in Brighton’s top two for interceptions made per 90 minutes.

Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson described the South American as a “marvellous player,” and he has already received praise from previous Three Lions internationals.

Arsenal may be in need of a defensive midfielder who has experience in England and can contribute to their title challenge right away.

The issue is Brighton’s harsh selling position, but if Arsenal were willing to invest large,  then there isn’t any doubt they would land a very exciting player.
