Graham Potter declares Chelsea FC star will get ‘better and better’ after Leicester win
Graham Potter expressed admiration for Enzo Fernandez and predicted that he will continue to improve after Chelsea FC’s 3-1 triumph over Leicester City.
Enzo Fernandez received particular recognition from Graham Potter for his contribution to Chelsea FC’s 3-1 victory over Leicester City on Saturday. The team secured their second consecutive Premier League win with goals from Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz, and Mateo Kovacic at the King Power Stadium. This result was the culmination of a successful week for Chelsea, who had also advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League following their win against Borussia Dortmund earlier in the week.
Enzo Fernandez, who joined Chelsea FC in the January transfer window from Benfica for a British-record fee of £106.8m, has been adapting to life at Stamford Bridge. He has made six Premier League appearances this season and has already registered two assists. Fernandez played the entirety of the game against Leicester City and was responsible for providing the assist for Kai Havertz’s goal just before halftime. Graham Potter was extremely pleased with Fernandez’s performance against the Foxes and also gave commendations to Mykhailo Mudryk, who also joined Chelsea in January.

“Enzo’s a fantastic player and he’s a young player,” Potter said after the game. “He’s going to get better and better as he’s with us more because he’s just arrived from another country and another league. So you always have to adapt to that but you can see his quality.
“He gets the ball and he can pass forward. He’s progressive with his mentality, gets the team moving and then he gives everything. So it’s a nice combination to have.
“Mykhailo will get better and better, in my view. He’s a young player who hasn’t got that much experience, so every game he’ll get better and better.
“His attitude’s fantastic, he wants to help the team, wants to work with the team, so I’m delighted for him that he could get an assist and help us win.”
After securing a win against Leicester City, Chelsea FC currently sit in 10th place in the Premier League standings and are 11 points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who are in fourth place, but with an additional game to play. Wesley Fofana, who previously played for the Foxes, appeared for 86 minutes during the game on Saturday, having transferred to Chelsea FC during the summer transfer window.
Before the match, Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Leicester City, shared his thoughts on why he believes the 22-year-old French international will ultimately be a great acquisition for Chelsea FC.
“He was brilliant for me,” Rodgers said of Fofana before the game. “He was a young player and I understand the game, what happened for him to get out, and the words that were mentioned, I know for a fact were not from him
“Our relationship was strong, we took a young guy out of a team who hadn’t played many games. He helped us achieve some great things here. He’s a hugely talented player and a really good young guy.
“I watched him the other night playing against Dortmund and you could see him getting back to his level. He was obviously injured in the early part of the season. He’ll be a brilliant player for Chelsea.”
