Goals from William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira at the Gtech People group Arena sent Arsenal back to the highest point of the Premier League table as the international break starts.
With club captain Martin Odegaard out harmed, Xhaka was given the armband and performed splendidly, setting up Jesus’ hit with a superb chip into the case.
Arsenal fans entertained the Swiss midfielder all through and after the game, reciting his name – something that would have been unimaginable a long time back when Xhaka notoriously tossed his shirt on the ground after getting scoffed off by his own allies in a home game against Gem Royal residence.
Then-administrator Unai Emery stripped him of the captaincy after the occurrence, and his Arsenal vocation investigated until Mikel Arteta showed up and persuaded the player to remain at the Emirates.
Presently, Xhaka is playing his best football much to the fans’ pleasure, and the 29-year-old assumed control over Arsenal’s true Twitter record to post a message of gratitude to the allies after the Brentford match.

‘We had a great chance after one minute with [Gabriel] Martinelli, if we score then we start well. We kept going, working each other and we are training like we play and we have class as well with individual players that can make a difference. Today you saw that.’
Xhaka’s form has played a big part in their recent success, with Arteta, in his post-match press conference, revealing the midfielder’s desire to be captain in Odegaard’s absence, saying: ‘He was demanding it.
‘I think he feels now that love and respect both ways. You see our supporters, the way they were singing to him as well, emotionally that makes him try to give even more.
‘His willingness always to stay humble, to look forward and try to get better and when you do that, normally good things happen. I’m really pleased for him because in my opinion he really deserves it.’
