Haaland Urges Manchester City to Keep Winning as he expresses on his new Premier League Life

Erling Haaland has encouraged Manchester City to win all their matches, following his game-winning goal against Crystal Palace. The 22-year-old scored a penalty in the 78th minute at Selhurst Park, reducing the gap to just two points behind table-toppers Arsenal.

The penalty was given after Michael Olise’s late tackle on Ilkay Gundogan. Haaland then scored his 28th top-flight goal of the season by calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner from 12 yards. Earlier this season, he had scored a hat-trick against the same team in a 4-2 victory at home. The Norwegian striker expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the match in South London.

“Three points and to win games and to keep performing, it’s not easy,” he told Sky Sports. “Bournemouth beat Liverpool earlier so every game is not easy, it is a fight.

“Nice stadium and a good game and I enjoy it. It’s my job and I enjoy it.

“Everyone knows how important this win is for us and we have to keep going.”

The former Borussia Dortmund ace is on track to break the record for the number of Premier League goals scored in a single season.

The current Premier League record for the most goals scored in a single season stands at 34, which is jointly held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole. Manchester City secured a narrow victory with a late goal, but Haaland admitted that he was not particularly concerned about the result.

“I was not concerned because I just focused on my game as I try to do every single game,” he added. “We were 2-0 down against Crystal Palace last time and this time it was 0-0. I’m really proud.”

Many experts predicted that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City would win their third consecutive Premier League title in the 2022-2023 season. However, few anticipated that Arsenal would still be leading the pack at this point in the campaign. There is still a significant amount of time left for the north-west club to catch up and surpass the Gunners. Haaland was unequivocal about what Manchester City needs to do to maintain their trophy-winning streak at the Etihad.

“Every single game we have to win and now it’s Leipzig, then Burnley,” he continued. “We have to win games and focus on ourselves. We have a lot of games left to play so nothing is decided yet.”

When it was evident that Erling Haaland would leave Borussia Dortmund, several prominent clubs expressed interest in signing the former Red Bull Salzburg star. While Real Madrid was rumored to be one of them, Haaland eventually chose to wear Manchester City’s blue jersey. However, there has been talk lately that a move to the Bernabeu might be in the cards for him in the future. Nonetheless, Guardiola denied that his contract has a clause allowing such a move. Haaland, who has scored 34 goals in all competitions this season, emphasized that he still derives great pleasure from playing for Manchester City.

“I enjoy it, this is England, this is what I have watched my whole life,” he said. “I enjoy every single second being in it. It’s good to be in the middle of it.”
