“I am very clear in my mind about how this game will go” –English former manager makes bold prediction for Manchester United vs Manchester City

Chris Sutton, a former footballer turned commentator and manager, has revealed his predictions for the forthcoming Manchester derby between Manchester City and Manchester United.

On Saturday, January 14, the reigning champions will pay a visit to Old Trafford in what might be a pivotal match in the Premier League title chase.

The Cityzens trail league leaders Arsenal by five points in second place, while United are fourth but only four points behind their local rivals. As a result, a victory in this game could mean a lot later in the season.

Sutton believes Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will eventually defeat Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United 2-1. In his BBC piece, Sutton stated:

Premier League

“I am very clear in my mind about how this game will go. Manchester United have improved under Erik ten Hag, and I don’t think he gets enough credit for their progress since the start of the season. ” There is something not quite right about Manchester City, who have not been firing on all cylinders since the season resumed after the World Cup, but I am still expecting them to win.” Some City players like Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker look out of form, and even Kevin de Bruyne has been below his best, but part of their problem is down to what is known as ‘Pep Roulette’ – Pep Guardiola’s ever-changing team selections.”

When Kalvin Phillips moved into midfield for his first start in the Carabao Cup against Southampton on Wednesday, he gambled, and it didn’t pay off. ” Guardiola says he has some “crazy” ideas for how his team will win United, but I’m quite sure one of them will entail starting Erling Haaland. He’ll bring his strongest team, and if they play like they can, they’ll win – it’s as simple as that.” I was convinced that City would destroy United in October, but it turned out that I didn’t go big enough with my forecast – I predicted 4-1, but it ended up being 6-3. This time will be more closer, but Pep will still get the points.” Manchester United is unbeaten in eight games. Manchester United are now unbeaten in eight games and are one of the league’s most in-form clubs. They now sit fourth in the table, level on points with third-placed Newcastle United, but have a game in hand.

If they beat City at Old Trafford, their point difference with Guardiola’s team will be reduced to one point. It remains to be seen whether Ten Hag’s team can extend their winning streak.
