Jim Ratcliffe’s Meeting with Graham Potter Sparks Ten Hag Sacking Plan Rumors at Manchester United
Graham Potter, former Chelsea boss, could emerge as the top choice to replace Manchester United’s current manager, Erik ten Hag, in a plan reportedly discussed with Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ten Hag is facing increased scrutiny after Manchester United’s Champions League exit and a series of disappointing results this season. Ratcliffe, awaiting approval for his £1.3 billion deal for a 25% stake in the club, reportedly favors Potter, who has been available since his dismissal by Chelsea in April.
Following Manchester United’s Champions League elimination with a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich, Ten Hag’s job security is in question, having lost 12 out of 24 games this season.

Although he is deemed safe for the short term, Ratcliffe’s potential involvement and a poor performance against Liverpool could threaten Ten Hag’s long-term position.

Ratcliffe, having met with Potter, is reportedly a fan of the former Swansea and Brighton coach.
Potter, available since his dismissal by Chelsea in April, has been previously linked to various roles and turned down an offer to replace Alex Neil at Stoke. While managing Chelsea, Potter won only 12 out of 31 games and lasted seven months into his five-year deal.

Other managers, including Julen Lopetegui, Zinedine Zidane, and Roberto De Zerbi, have also been mentioned as potential replacements for Ten Hag if poor results continue at Manchester United.

Ten Hag, appointed in April 2022 as part of a long-term project, is under contract until June 2025. The United hierarchy is said to be sympathetic to the injury crisis affecting the team.

However, results below expectations, the early exit from European football, and the potential arrival of Ratcliffe and INEOS at the club raise concerns about Ten Hag’s future.

The new ownership could coincide with changes in leadership, including CEO Richard Arnold, as Sir Dave Brailsford conducts an audit. Ratcliffe is known for being a decisive businessman and may take action if results under Ten Hag do not improve.
