Jose Mourinho targets at Chelsea over £87m Mykhaylo Mudryk transfer
Jose Mourinho targets Chelsea in the £87 million Mykhaylo Mudryk move.
On Sunday, Chelsea completed the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Jose Mourinho has criticised his previous club Chelsea after they spent £87 million to recruit Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk. Mudryk appeared to be on his way to Arsenal when the Gunners made three bids for him, but he ultimately chose to join Chelsea after being offered an eight-and-a-half-year contract worth £100,000 per week.
Chelsea have spent a lot of money since Todd Boehly took over at the end of last May. They spent £271 million during the summer transfer window to sign Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly, Fofana

And the Blues have added more players this month, with Benoit Badiashile joining from Monaco and Joao Felix joining on loan from Atletico Madrid. In addition, Christopher Nkunku will join the team from RB Leipzig in the summer.
Chelsea appear to be flush with cash under Boehly. And Mourinho has contrasted Chelsea’s circumstances to his own at Roma.
“I am not expecting anyone to appear,” Mourinho stated after Roma defeated Fiorentina 2-0 in Serie A. “The director [Tiago Pinto] was quite honest and straightforward – he said things in an interview that a coach normally does not like to hear. Coaches are always interested to hear that we have Lots of money, can buy options a, b, c, and d, and put together an outstanding team. That is the fantasy.
“I used to work at clubs with nearly boundless funds. There are more and more clubs that suit that profile nowadays, but it is not our profile. We labor, we give our all, and we work with the abilities we have. We need to find a solution; we can’t just pay €100 million for Mudryk.
Mudryk scored 10 goals and had eight assists in 18 appearances for Shakhtar this season before departing for the Premier League. He was sighted at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, when Chelsea overcame Crystal Palace 1-0 for their second top-flight victory in nine games.
And after his signing was announced by the Blues, Mudryk said: “This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff.”
