Jose Mourinho’s Career Earnings from Managerial Dismissals Post Roma Departure

Jose Mourinho faced his sixth career dismissal after being sacked by Roma following a disappointing season, leaving the team in ninth place in Serie A.

The 60-year-old’s contract was set to end this season, and although there were talks of a new deal, Roma opted to part ways.

Mourinho has earned an estimated £80 million from managerial dismissals, with Chelsea alone paying him over £26 million.

His payout from Roma, where he was out of contract at the season’s end, is expected to be around £3 million. Mourinho’s total earnings from dismissals surpass those of other managers, with Antonio Conte believed to have earned around £37 million in compensation throughout his career.

Roma owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin expressed gratitude for Mourinho’s efforts but emphasized an immediate change for the club’s best interests. Mourinho’s final game was a 3-1 defeat to AC Milan, and Roma has won only one of their past six league games.

In Serie A this season, Roma has won eight out of 20 matches, trailing behind teams like Lazio, Bologna, Atalanta, and Fiorentina in the race for European qualification.

Mourinho, who led Roma to the Europa Conference League title in 2022, joined the club in May 2021, and speculation about his future had been increasing before Roma’s announcement.

Mourinho’s immediate future in football is uncertain, having been dismissed by his last four clubs. Throughout his managerial career, he has won 68 out of 138 matches in charge but has faced repeated disciplinary issues.
