Koulibaly dealt Chelsea manager a blow last month when he left the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid with a hamstring injury.

He was expected to be out for at least a few weeks, but Lampard has been dealt a potentially season-ending blow. The 31-year-old might miss the final six games of Chelsea’s 2022/23 season.

“Out for a while yet,” Lampard added. “To be fair, the season will be a close call.” He’s hard at work. I’ve been impressed by his professionalism and ability to do his job successfully. Unfortunately, the injuries was severe.”

Reece James and Mason Mount have already been ruled out for the remainder of the season, joining Armando Broja, who is gradually regaining full fitness after undergoing anterior cruciate ligament surgery in December.

Marc Cucurella hopes to return in the next few weeks before the season ends. He sustained a thigh injury and was ruled out for at least two weeks.

Kai Havertz has given Chelsea a fitness boost ahead of their match against Arsenal, but Frank Lampard has revealed that he may be without another star for the rest of the season.

Chelsea go to the Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal on Tuesday night, looking for their first win under Lampard since his interim appointment last month. He has presided over five matches in total, all of which have ended in defeat.

Havertz missed Brentford’s defeat last week due to a minor knee injury. Lampard stated that he expects the Germany international to return to training later this week in order to face Arsenal on Tuesday.

The 44-year-old has confirmed Havertz’s availability for the London derby, saying, “Kai Havertz is in contention for the game, he’s trained.”

Lampard also provided an update on his condition, saying, “Cucurella probably another two weeks or so.” When he did that, he was out for two or three weeks.”

Despite the setback, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang impressed off the bench against Brentford and will be eager to face his former club on Tuesday. Lampard, on the other hand, was hesitant about his selection but stated he is eligible for selection.

“I’ve got Auba, Kai, David Fofana. I won’t divulge the team. He’s fit and ready. I’ll pick that position on my feeling on how they’ve trained and what the team structure looks like.”
