Leroy Sane Excited for Bayern’s Clash with Former Club Manchester City in Champions League Quarter-Finals
Leroy Sane has conveyed a message to Manchester City as he prepares to face them in the Champions League quarter-final, marking his return to the Etihad Stadium as a Bayern Munich player.
Bayern Munich player and former Manchester City winger, Leroy Sane, has expressed his excitement about returning to the Etihad Stadium to face his former team in the Champions League.
The draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the competition was made on Friday, with City and Bayern being the fifth and sixth teams drawn respectively, making for a difficult path to the semi-finals for both clubs. Sane had previously played for City for four years before departing for Bayern in 2020 after playing in 135 matches for the club.
Sane is prepared to face Manchester City for the first time since leaving the team three years ago, and he welcomes the challenge ahead. In a tweet, he stated, “See you soon Manchester City, looking forward to it.” City will play the first leg against Bayern at the Etihad Stadium on either Tuesday, April 11 or Wednesday, April 12, with the second leg in Germany scheduled for a week later on either Tuesday, April 18 or Wednesday, April 19.
Should the Blues manage to beat the Bundesliga leaders they will face either Real Madrid or Chelsea in the semi-finals in May. The first leg would be away from home for Pep Guardiola’s side before returning to the Etihad a week later.

Guardiola’s immediate attention will not be on the Champions League following the draw. City host Vincent Kompany’s Burnley on Saturday as they attempt to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
