Liverpool plotting shock late move for Premier League star

Liverpool is planning a surprise late deal for Premier League star Liverpool will face Wolves in an FA Cup third round replay on Tuesday evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s team was fortunate to force a replay after Wolves defender Toti Gomes’ late goal was controversially ruled out at Anfield.

The Reds have since been thrashed 3-0 in the Premier League by Brighton and Hove Albion, and Klopp will be hoping for a response from his team at Molineux.

Liverpool will face a team that has recently improved, having picked up seven points in their last four league games.

The game may also provide Klopp with an opportunity to observe one of his top targets in action, as The Reds are apparently planning a surprise deal in the transfer window

According to Football Insider, the Merseyside club is planning a move for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

Transfer Updates

Klopp has already stated that The Reds are unlikely to make any further acquisitions this month with the arrival of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, but the report indicates that they could make a move for the Portugal midfielder.

The Reds have been looking to add a midfielder to their squad for some time, but number one target Jude Bellingham will not be able to leave current club Borussia Dortmund until the summer at the earliest.

This has prompted the team to express an interest in Neves, 25, who has impressed for Wolves since his arrival in the Premier League.

The Portugal international joined the club from Porto back in 2017 and has since made 235 appearances for Wolves, scoring 28 goals in the process.

Liverpool’s interest in the player is reported to be ‘concrete’, while it is also said that Wolves could listen to bids for a player who is expected to be out of contract in 2024.

The Reds’ management is reported to be biding their time until Wolves have completed all of their own new acquisitions.

Mario Lemina has already arrived at Molineux, and Liverpool are hoping that if another player arrives, they will allow Neves to leave.

Wolves valued Neves at £100 million last year, according to then-manager Bruno Lage, though that figure is likely to have decreased dramatically given that the player has entered the final 18 months of his current contract.
