Sources say Mac Allister has agreed to join Liverpool after a breakthrough.

Alexis MacAllister has agreed to join Liverpool from Brighton this summer, according to Football Insider sources.

The Merseysiders have reached a personal deal with the World Cup champion, 24, and are negotiating a cost of roughly £60 million with the south coast club.

After bidding an emotional farewell to Brighton fans after their Premier League match at Aston Villa last Sunday, Mac Allister has decided to make a box-office shift to Anfield.

Liverpool is thought to have met with Mac Allister’s representatives and agreed on a contract worth more than £150,000 per week.

The Argentina international is now paid an estimated £50,000 per week on a contract that runs through June 2025.

According to a reliable Reds source, the trade is now “99% done” and only the paperwork remain.

The agreement is set to be disclosed in early June.

Mac Allister is on his way, and his representatives have been laying the framework for a contract for months, according to Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi.

The Argentine was recently instrumental in Brighton achieving European qualification for the first time.

Jurgen Klopp has sanctioned a big-money Liverpool move as he plans a drastic revamp of a midfield that struggled last season.

Senior talents Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago Alcantara are all over the age of 29, while James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have already declared their departures.

That weapon can be recreated on the right when another player who can do something similar replaces Jordan Henderson, who has played the position recently but has not looked completely natural there.

It remains to be seen whether Mason Mount can be signed this summer, but he would be a great match for making late runs into the box and scoring goals.

And, while Alexis Mac Allister isn’t quite the same type of aggressive midfield presence, he, too, has scored more than ten goals for Brighton this season (albeit some of those from penalties). If a transfer is completed, the Argentinean will most likely be looking for a role in place of Henderson where he can get forward, create, and score.

Within the new system, there is an obvious need for the Liverpool midfield to contribute more in terms of goal scoring actions. However, the shift of emphasis could result in another ‘typical’ Liverpool goal, which Jones and Gakpo have already begun to establish as a trend.
