Man City Boss Pep Guardiola Issues Premier League Title Warning to Liverpool and Arsenal

Pep Guardiola is confident in his Manchester City players as they approach the crucial stage of the season, describing it as the “dead or alive” phase where every game is crucial. Despite the pressure, Guardiola believes his players thrive in such situations and are prepared to compete for glory on all fronts.

City, aiming for a historic repeat of last season’s treble triumph, face Real Madrid in the decisive Champions League quarter-final return leg, with Guardiola acknowledging the importance of not being able to afford any mistakes.

He emphasized the team’s readiness to compete for major trophies and praised their preparation and mentality.

While Guardiola refrained from making outright predictions about winning the Premier League title, he expressed confidence in City’s ability to compete until the end.

With challenges from Arsenal and Liverpool in the league, as well as upcoming fixtures against Real Madrid and Chelsea in the FA Cup, Guardiola knows that City must remain focused and deliver consistently to achieve their goals.

“The problem is that we have to travel in October and November,” said Guardiola. “You think ‘this is a long, long season’ and that’s the moment when you try to do it, but you’re not completely focused.

“We spoke about that. With the contenders we have in Arsenal and Liverpool, we cannot draw many games. That’s why we are still there.

The only biggest difference between Arsenal, Liverpool and us is that they won a lot of points in stoppage-time. A lot. That helped them be in the position they are.

“Of course, all three teams have had incredible seasons. But they won a lot of points for the talent they have because of this [late goals].

“It happened for Liverpool many times in the last eight years and for Arsenal many times, because of their talent. It’s a credit to them, not the opposite.

“In that department they are much better than us, but still we’re there. What a privilege. I would not change our position for any other team.”

Pep Guardiola acknowledged the importance of focusing on each upcoming match individually, revealing that he had not yet reviewed Manchester City’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Instead, his sole focus was on preparing the team for their subsequent fixture against Luton.

However, with the crucial Champions League quarter-final return leg against Real Madrid approaching, Guardiola and his coaching staff will now turn their attention to devising a plan to overcome their Spanish opponents.

Guardiola referenced City’s success against Real Madrid last season, particularly their impressive 4-0 win at the Etihad Stadium, which played a significant role in their journey to becoming European champions.

“The night after Luton or the following morning I will start to review the game and see whether there were surprises for the positions of the players, to take a look at whether Carlo will use his experience to do something differently,” said Guardiola.

“We have to be prepared but, at the same time, try to impose our game and put pressure on our game to our opponent.”
