Man City Star Defies Odds by rejecting Real Madrid and Barcelona Amidst Teammate warning

Manchester City player’set to reject’ Despite being ‘ostracized’ by teammate, Man City attacker Julian Alvarez is said to be’set to reject’ offers from Real Madrid and Barcelona because he is’very happy’ at the Premier League side.

Alvarez has impressed since joining Manchester City from River Plate last year. In 31 appearances in all competitions, he has 10 goals and three assists.

Even with him mostly playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland, who has been on a tear since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund.

Since joining Manchester City, the Norwegian international has scored 33 goals and provided four assists in 33 matches.

Alvarez is already being linked with a move away from the club. Sport claimed earlier this week that Barcelona manager Xavi had ‘requested’ the club to sign the striker.

According to the article, Haaland has left him “ostracized,” and he “may ask” for his “leave” at the end of the current campaign.

According to Football Insider, Real Madrid are also interested in Alvarez, but he is’set to reject’ the Spanish giants.

They are disputing Sport’s claim, which stated that Alvarez is’very pleased’ at Man City. The Premier League club is even ‘expecting him to sign a new contract’.

‘There are unlikely to be any impediments that would block an agreement – even amid interest from El Clasico giants in Spain,’ it is said.

Real Madrid and Barcelona were interested in signing him this summer to ‘take advantage of his backup position,’ according to the source, but he is not now interested in a move to Spain.

‘Talks are ongoing about a new contract for Julian Alvarez,’ O’Rourke wrote.

‘They want to reward him for his progress by bringing him more in line with the top earners at the club, even with his current deal set to expire in 2027.

‘He’s very happy at the club, and the club are very happy with him, and Man City are not expecting any obstacles to arise in these talks, I’m told.

‘There have been whispers of interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

‘If he’s not going to start regularly for City, then perhaps it does raise the question of him being lured away.

‘But they see him as a long-term project and the club want him in the squad as they challenge for more and more honours.’

O’Rourke has also confirmed that Nathan Ake is ‘in talks’ with Man City over a new contract.

‘Nathan Ake is also in talks about a new deal, not even a year after he was expected to move to Chelsea,” O’Rouke added.

‘It’s a big turnaround for him, but he’s re-established himself in this side. His versatility has been key for City after Joao Cancelo left the club.

‘City want him to sign a longer-term deal with his current contract set to expire in 2025.’
