Man United are ‘close’ to signing a Premier League reject as negotiations for a surprise deal enter a ‘advanced stage.’
Man United are ‘near’ to signing a Premier League pariah as negotiations for a surprise deal enter a ‘advanced stage.’
Manchester United are allegedly ‘near’ to signing Fulham outcast Kevin Mbabu as the club seeks a new right-back to replace Diogo Dalot.
The Red Devils have already made one shock signing this month, with Wout Weghorst joining on loan from Championship club Burnley.
After Cristiano Ronaldo departed the club in November when his contract was amicably terminated, signing a striker was always going to be a priority for Manchester United this month.
Weghorst is expected to be a short-term option until the summer, when United will likely purchase a long-term Ronaldo replacement for a significant cost. Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane are among the players they are being linked with.
Man United also have a problem at right-back. This season, Dalot has been Erik ten Hag’s favored player in that position, and he has been in superb form.

Meanwhile, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has fallen down the pecking order and has only recently joined the team due to Dalot’s absence.
Ten Hag is reported to have made a U-turn after the former Crystal Palace academy product played well, with him now anxious to keep Wan-Bissaka this month.
Wan-Bissaka is eager to play frequently, and his situation could change if he falls further down the pecking order before the January transfer window ends.
With that, Man Utd should be keeping an eye on the market for a right-back just in case Wan-Bissaka’s situation turns sour.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Red Devils have gone under the radar and are ‘near’ to signing Mbabu from Fulham.
According to the source, Serie A team Monza is also interested in him, although Man Utd has entered a ‘advanced negotiation phase’ in the previous few hours.
The 27-year-old previously played for Newcastle United.
He had previously played for Young Boys and Wolfsburg, but he joined Fulham in the summer for an undisclosed fee.
“I’m really thrilled that we’ve been able to welcome Kevin Mbabu to Fulham,” club owner Tony Khan remarked at the time.

Kevin is a player we’ve been after for some years.
“He brings great physical tools to our Club in addition to his vast experience, and he’s determined to prove himself in the Premier League, so we believe that he’ll be a great addition to Marco’s squad, and we’re very excited about his arrival.”
However, his move to Fulham has not gone as planned. His last Premier League start came in early October, when Marco Silva took him out at halftime in a 4-1 loss to Newcastle.
The Switzerland international hasn’t exactly lit up the Premier League for Fulham or Newcastle, but he, like Weghorst, may be a viable option for United on a short-term basis until Wan-Bissaka moves on.
