Man United’s dream January transfer window ends with a £24 million double exit and a third loan signing.

With the January transfer deadline approaching, Express Sport examines the late business Manchester United is attempting to complete.

Erik ten Hag of Manchester United has added two new players to his squad ahead of the second half of the season. However, with limited resources ahead of the most important transfer of all, the Glazers’ sale of the club, Ten Hag still has time in January to shape his squad to his liking.

The manager of Manchester United would undoubtedly like to bolster his squad before the winter deadline, with the majority of issues likely to be addressed in the coming years.

However, a possible takeover at Old Trafford in the first quarter of 2023 has made the club’s Glazer owners hesitant to invest further in the squad.

Transfer Updates

Ten Hag has had to make do with the loan signings of Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland and Burnley striker Wout Weghorst until the end of the season.

If reports are to be believed, he could add another player to his squad before the clock strikes 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

More activity regarding outgoings is expected, including a handful of loan moves from both the first team and the youth level.

United have signed two loan deals this month, but there may be time for another as Ten Hag seeks more attacking firepower.

Despite signing Weghorst, United are hoping to sign another forward on loan before the deadline, according to the Mail.

According to reports, the Red Devils have maintained their stance of no further business but are privately considering a third deal if it is a loan with a small fee.

With United still competing in all four competitions, Ten Hag could be looking to sign another striker to offset Anthony Martial’s ongoing injury woes.

Or he could try to bring in another wing, possibly to compete with Antony on the right, to allow two of his current stars to leave.

Elanga and Pellistri are out.

If United can bring in another short-term forward, Anthony Elanga and Facundo Pellistri will be able to secure long-term loan moves.

Elanga is interested in joining Borussia Dortmund but has yet to receive permission from Ten Hag.

Similarly, Valencia is interested in Pellistri, but the Dutchman wants to keep him due to a lack of options due to current injuries and absences.

However, Amad’s success at Sunderland demonstrates how the right loan move can catapult a young player’s career.

So, if United can bring Jadon Sancho back into the picture and secure a third loan signing, Elanga and Pellistri will be able to gain valuable experience playing regularly elsewhere.
