As his Chelsea contract enters its final year, Mason Mount has become Man United’s top target in the midfield.

Mason Mount, a playmaker for Chelsea, and Manchester United have reached a personal agreement.

Although it is believed that Tony Mount and Neil Fewings, Mount’s agent, have had preliminary talks with United, the two clubs have not yet reached an agreement on a transfer fee.

Although Mount was thought to be the perfect student for new Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino, the England international wants to leave Stamford Bridge.

Mount, 24, has a contract expiring at Chelsea the next year, and United boss Erik ten Hag is interested in signing a young midfielder.

Ten Hag stated last year that he would prefer to sign English players but acknowledged that some targets were valued too highly.

Ten Hag stated in July, “I would like to sign English players because I think there is just one requirement, and that is quality combined with price. The cost of English players seems to be extremely high. You cannot argue with the reality. In the end, quality matters.

In addition to starting in Chelsea’s three consecutive FA Cup final losses between 2020 and 22 and their League Cup final loss to Liverpool on penalties last year, Mount has won the Champions League and Club World Cup with Chelsea.

The alumnus of the Chelsea academy started for England against Italy in the 2021 European Championship final, earning 36 caps.

Harry Kane of Tottenham, whose contract also expires next year, is still a target for United, but they are assuming he will stay at Spurs this summer.

Kane won’t be sold, according to Daniel Levy, the chairman of Tottenham, and United are aggressively looking at other options.
