Mauricio Pochettino Provides Chelsea Injury Update Following Mudryk and Broja Substitutions Against Fulham

On Monday night, Chelsea secured a much-needed victory at Fulham.
After Mykhailo Mudryk and Armando Broja were removed from Monday’s victory over Fulham, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino was quick to downplay the possibility of injury for the two players. Before the break, both players scored for the Blues, who earned their first Premier League victory in over a month at Craven Cottage.

Mudryk’s direct running out wide for Chelsea during the first half was impressive, but he was substituted at halftime, and Broja was replaced by Raheem Sterling after an hour. The substitutions prompted fears of additional injuries for the Blues, but Pochettino later stated that he expects both players to be available for Saturday’s trip to Burnley.

The Chelsea boss told Sky Sports: “Important because it’s the first [goal] for Misha [Mudryk]. He was doing well but at half-time he felt something in his quad. Also for Broja it’s important. I am happy for them both and hopefully they are OK for the weekend.”
Moises Caicedo, who appeared to be in pain as he limped off the field and was replaced by Noni Madueke in the final minutes for Chelsea, was also forced off the field. The Blues will evaluate his condition in due time to determine whether he will be available to play against Burnley this weekend.
“We hope it’s nothing serious, but it appeared to be a bruise,” added Pochettino when asked about Caicedo’s injury. In the coming days, we’ll conduct a thorough evaluation.

Early in the first half, Chelsea exploded out of the gates, with Broja gaining shooting position before sending his shot well over the crossbar. Mudryk then scored within the first twenty minutes to give the Blues a 2-0 lead, with Broja adding a second goal shortly thereafter.

In the closing minutes of the second half, Fulham fought valiantly but were unable to respond, allowing Chelsea to record their second victory of the Premier League season. The west Londoners are still in the bottom half of the table after seven matches, eight points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
When quizzed on the performance of his players, Pochettino said: “It’s important for us to build our confidence and trust in ourselves. The performance was very good, I’m so happy for the players and in the end we got what we deserved.”
