Mikel Arteta Faces Injury Headache as Arsenal Duo Miss Training Ahead of Aston Villa Game

Arsenal prepares to face Aston Villa on Sunday, aiming to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League table.

However, manager Mikel Arteta might have to navigate the match without two defenders, Gabriel Magalhaes and Jakub Kiwior, both of whom missed the final training session ahead of the clash.

Gabriel, dealing with an Achilles issue for the past month, was absent from Friday’s training session and was also not seen during the squad’s preparations at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Kiwior, who has been a regular at left-back in recent months, was substituted at halftime during Arsenal’s recent draw with Bayern Munich in the Champions League and did not participate in the final training session either.

Arteta remained cautious when asked about the team’s injuries, indicating that their availability would be assessed closer to the matchday.

Villa, meanwhile, will be without midfielder Douglas Luiz due to suspension, but Matty Cash and Clement Lenglet have returned to training and could feature. However, Tyrone Mings, Jacob Ramsey, Boubacar Kamara, and Emi Buendia remain sidelined.

Arteta acknowledged the challenge posed by Villa under the management of Unai Emery, praising their performances and consistency under his guidance.

Emery, who led Villa to victory over Arsenal in December, emphasized the differences between the upcoming match and their previous encounter, highlighting the context and players’ availability as key factors.
