Ralf Rangnick Breaks Silence on ‘Return Plans’ with Man Utd Prepared to Heed His Advice

Ralf Rangnick has clarified his plans for a return to club football, pouring cold water on suggestions of him taking over as Bayern Munich manager.

Despite speculation linking him to the Bayern job, Rangnick is focused on guiding Austria into Euro 2024, while also advising Manchester United on restructuring their sporting structure.

Having previously coached in Germany, including stints at RB Leipzig, Rangnick returned to management with Manchester United in December 2021. However, his tenure at United was challenging, with limited success and a mutual agreement to end his consultancy role after accepting the Austria job.

Rangnick emphasized his commitment to Austria and ruled out a return to club football, affirming his contract until 2026. While his time at United was challenging, Rangnick’s honest assessments of the club’s situation garnered attention, particularly his recommendation for “open-heart surgery” after a heavy defeat to Liverpool.

As United undergoes changes off the pitch under the ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, including new appointments in key roles, Rangnick’s recommendations could shape the club’s future direction.

He reportedly suggested Julian Nagelsmann as a potential managerial candidate once he completes his tenure with the Germany national team.

Overall, Rangnick’s focus remains on Austria’s Euro 2024 campaign, while his insights continue to influence Manchester United’s restructuring efforts.
