Reece James and Noni Madueke send a message to Mykhailo Mudryk ahead of the upcoming Chelsea game
Mykhailo Mudryk’s excellent debut versus Liverpool at Anfield left Chelsea fans speechless.
Reece James and Noni Madueke are among numerous Chelsea players who have openly shown their support for Mykhailo Mudryk following his brilliant debut against Liverpool. At the start of the month, the 22-year-old winger was highly linked with a transfer to Arsenal, only for the Blues to jump in and steal the deal.
Mudryk came off the bench in the second half of West Ham’s goalless draw at Anfield, and although a tiny sample size, he appears to fit Graham Potter’s system well. Despite not playing in a competitive match since November for Shakhtar Donetsk, the Ukraine international looked the sharpest player on the pitch.
- Manchester United’s stance on acquiring Marco Reus as the transfer window nears its close.
- Oleksandr Zinchenko issues a caution to Manchester City supporters after losing his huff with former teammates.
- Comparison of Manchester City’s wage bill with Manchester United and Liverpool FC supports Pep Guardiola’s argument.
- Cody Gakpo desires a Liverpool ‘accident’ and addresses a position shift in play following his transfer.
- ‘Blue is my favorite color,’ says Chelsea player despite reports he could leave the club this month.
He brought energy into the Chelsea team and proved to be a continuous danger, forcing Jurgen Klopp to substitute Trent Alexander-Arnold for the yellow-carded James Milner. After the game, Mudryk took to Instagram to express his joy at making his Blues debut.
However, the winger hopes to excite the home crowd when Chelsea hosts Fulham at Stamford Bridge on February 3. “Debut for @chelseafc on the Anfield is good, but can’t wait to make my debut on the Stamford Bridge,” Mudryk said with a blue love emoji.
Trevoh Chalobah, James, and Madueke all commented on their new comrades’ post. The former added a lightning emoji, while Madueke and Chalobah stated that Mudryk is just getting started.
Chelsea’s trio were just three of over six-thousand people showing the Ukrainian some love. Potter did as well after the game; though in the post-match press conference and not on Instagram.
“He’s not played since November, hasn’t had any game time, so it would’ve been a risk to play him from the start,” the Blues boss said. “It was more managing his minutes at the backend of the game. We thought it was the right time to bring him in.
“He was really good. He’s only been with us a couple of days and he’ll get better the more he is with us and the more we understand him and the more he understands us. But promising signs.
“He’s had two sessions with us but from watching him at Shakhtar, seeing his quality there, he is dangerous in one-vs-one situations, in the final third he can make things happen, he’ll get supporters off their seats.
“Dribbling actions are really high and he knows where the goal is. Our job is to help him settle into the team, help him settle into the country and league, and gain an understanding of us and how we can help him.”
