Ruben Loftus-Cheek Set for AC Milan Switch as Chelsea Contract Nears Conclusion

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has consented to join Italian powerhouse AC Milan.

The Chelsea midfielder might be one of Mauricio Pochettino’s first victims as the Blues are ready to trim their overcrowded roster.

Following the Argentine’s arrival, Loftus-Cheek was rumored to be one of a number of players who will be moved on this summer.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the English midfielder has approved a transfer to the Serie A team.

Only one year remains on the 27-year-old’s deal, but the Blues are rumored to be arguing over his asking price and want to get roughly £21 million to let the star go.

In the middle of the park, Loftus-Cheek is rumored to have become the Rossoneri’s top priority acquisition.

Ismael Bennacer, a dependable regular who sustained a significant knee injury, is expected to be sidelined until close to the end of the year, leaving them short on midfielders.

According to reports, Loftus-Cheek’s representatives are in contact with AC Milan and Chelsea regarding the player’s future. Loftus-Cheek has received 10 England caps.

The initial offer from the Champions League semifinalist is much below the amount the west London club is believed to be willing to pay for the midfielder.

According to sources, AC Milan has only offered £13 million for the 27-year-old, though they might raise it to about £17.2 million. However, they do not want to pay more than that for a player who will be eligible for free agency next summer.

Loftus-Cheek looked to wave goodbye to the crowd after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle on the final day of the season at Stamford Bridge by extending his arms in their direction.

He wouldn’t be the first Chelsea player to play at the San Siro; in fact, Fikayo Tomori, a former teammate, switched from blue to red and black as recently as 2021.

The player has spent his whole career at Stamford Bridge, making over 100 Premier League matches despite loan stints at London rivals Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Loftus-Cheek has so far won two Premier League championships, a Club World Cup, a UEFA Super Cup, and the Europa League during his nine years in west London.

Up to 14 players, including Mason Mount, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Conor Gallagher, N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Mateo Kovacic, might leave the team in addition to Loftus-Cheek.

After Todd Boehly’s near-£600 million spending spree over two transfer windows, Pochettino’s team’s numbers grew to more than 30, and they are hoping to receive about £280 million for the roster trim.
