Saudi Consortium Launches Fresh Bid for Mohamed Salah Transfer Amid Reports of World Record Offer from Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp remains confident in retaining Mohamed Salah, despite ongoing efforts from Al-Ittihad to sign the Egyptian international before the transfer deadline. Al-Ittihad, the Saudi Pro League champions, are reportedly offering a staggering £215 million for Salah.

While the Premier League’s transfer window has closed, Saudi Pro League teams can still make signings until Thursday, giving Al-Ittihad a window of opportunity to acquire Salah, who is highly regarded as the most popular footballer in the Middle East.

Liverpool is determined to hold onto Salah as they cannot sign a replacement until the Premier League’s window reopens in January. However, the prospect of a world-record offer for an aging superstar may pose a challenge for the club.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes that if Al-Ittihad surpasses the £200 million mark, Liverpool may have no choice but to accept the offer. The reported offer from Al-Ittihad stands at an initial £170 million, with an additional £45 million in potential add-ons.

Representatives from Al-Ittihad have traveled to the UK to make a final attempt to secure Salah’s signing. They are prepared to make him the highest-paid player in the Saudi Pro League, with some reports suggesting he could earn as much as £2.45 million per week. The offer includes a base salary, earnings from shirt sales, an ambassadorial role with Saudi companies, and significant win bonuses. The Public Investment Fund (PIF), Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, holds a majority stake in Al-Ittihad.

Even if Al-Ittihad’s current bid fails, they may consider making another offer in January or next summer, raising concerns among Liverpool fans about Salah’s future. However, it remains uncertain whether they will exceed the £200 million threshold again.

Jurgen Klopp has expressed confidence in Salah’s commitment to Liverpool, emphasizing that Salah wants to continue playing for the club. Salah has been a prolific scorer for Liverpool since joining in June 2017, with 188 goals in 309 games.

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has also dismissed concerns, affirming that Salah remains a crucial part of the team’s plans, and his commitment to the club is unwavering. Salah’s performance against Aston Villa, where he scored, is seen as evidence of his professionalism and dedication to Liverpool. The club has rejected Al-Ittihad’s bid, signaling its stance on retaining Salah.
