Speculation Mounts as Jose Mourinho Reportedly Secures Next Job Amidst Rumors of Roma Sacking

Jose Mourinho has left his position at Roma immediately, as officially stated by the club, and he has already hinted at his potential next destination.

Taking over Roma in May 2021 after departing Tottenham, Mourinho secured success by winning the Europa Conference League in his inaugural season.

Despite guiding Giallorossi to the Europa League final last season, this campaign has proven challenging, with Roma currently occupying the eighth position in Serie A.

Mourinho’s final game in charge ended in a 1-0 defeat to fierce rivals Lazio in the Coppa Italia, leading to robust self-defense amid media criticism. The club has now formally announced the departure of the 60-year-old.

Roma owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin expressed gratitude for Mourinho’s tenure but emphasized that an immediate change is in the best interests of the club. They extended their best wishes to Jose and his assistants in their future endeavors.

Mourinho had previously hinted at his interest in taking a role with a national team, having been linked with England and Portugal.

Reports in November suggested a possible role as the head coach of the Brazil national team next summer, although Dorival Junior has since been appointed to that position.

Mourinho has now suggested a potential move to the Saudi Pro League, expressing openness to the idea and a desire to experience the development there.

Referring to Cristiano Ronaldo’s impact, he highlighted that the competition is becoming more intense, not only in the domestic league but also in the AFC Champions League.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims De Rossi has already accepted Roma’s offer, so the Giallorossi will soon announce him as their new head coach.

‘Only the announcement is missing,’ claimed the pink paper.

De Rossi was Roberto Mancini’s assistant at Euro 2020 and has only been in charge of one professional team in his coaching career.

SPAL appointed him in October 2022, but he was sacked in February 2023 after winning just three games from 17.

According to Gazzetta, De Rossi has also been chosen by Roma owners for his solid bond with the club and the fans, most of whom strongly backed Mourinho.
