Strategic Choice: Manchester United Vindicated in Opting for Hojlund as £69m Exit-Linked Striker Falters
Manchester United’s decision to pass on Goncalo Ramos, the £69 million striker linked to them, seems justified as the player faces an uncertain future at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Despite a promising start, Ramos has struggled to make an impact at PSG, with only three goals in 13 Ligue 1 appearances.

There are reports suggesting that PSG is open to letting Ramos go, with head coach Luis Enrique having reservations about his ability to lead the line effectively.

Manchester United, facing financial constraints, may not revive their interest in Ramos.

Instead, they seem inclined to rely on Rasmus Hojlund, who was chosen over Ramos by manager Erik ten Hag.

Hojlund has had a mixed time at Manchester United, but the club appears to prefer a more experienced option if they decide to bring in a new number nine. While a loan might be an ideal solution, there is no current indication that such an option is on the table.

Scouts from Manchester United had reportedly watched Ramos multiple times before ultimately opting for Hojlund.

The decision seems justified, considering Ramos’ struggles at PSG and the challenges associated with adapting to a major European league. Hojlund, although relatively unproven, has been entrusted with the goalscoring burden at Old Trafford.

Another player, Randal Kolo Muani, also of interest to Manchester United, secured a move to PSG but has similarly struggled to justify his hefty price tag.
