Ten Hag Reveals His Plan as Man Utd Star Casemiro Faces Extended Suspension

After their disappointing loss to Liverpool last weekend, Manchester United fans were hoping for a better result in their match against Southampton on Sunday. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned and they ended up with a 0-0 draw, made worse by Casemiro’s sending off. To add insult to injury, Alejandro Garnacho, who came on as a substitute in the second half, was seen on crutches outside the stadium after the game.

Manchester United’s Casemiro, a prominent player, is likely to face a long suspension after receiving a direct red card in the game against Southampton. Manager Erik ten Hag has already expressed his concerns about losing one of his crucial players due to the suspension.

During the match, Casemiro was dismissed by referee Anthony Taylor after a VAR review for a high tackle on Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz. Despite the replays showing that the Brazilian won the ball, the height of the challenge and the fact that Casemiro’s foot went over the ball resulted in VAR concluding that it was a red card offence.

In case Manchester United’s appeal to overturn the red card fails, Casemiro will be unavailable for the next four games.

Casemiro’s suspension will result in him missing matches against Fulham (in the FA Cup), Newcastle, Brentford, and Everton (all in the Premier League), which is a significant setback for Manchester United. The team’s recent 0-0 draw with the league’s bottom side has compounded the problem.

However, Manager Ten Hag has already made it clear that he will not use the Brazilian’s absence as an excuse and will have to make do with the players available in the squad. He believes in the abilities of the other squad members who are not in the starting lineup and will try to win games regardless of who is playing.

Possible replacements for Casemiro include Fred and Scott McTominay, and Marcel Sabitzer’s quick recovery from his knock will be critical. However, with Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek already out, Ten Hag may have difficult decisions to make if any of the other fully fit midfielders become injured or suspended before Casemiro returns.
