Sold to: Barcelona in 2021/2022 season
Quite simply a City icon. Aguero left for Barcelona in 2021 after a goal-laden decade at the Etihad but was sadly forced to hang up his boots due to a heart condition.
Angelino
Sold to: RB Leipzig in 2021/2022 season
The Spaniard endured a frustrating spell after joining City in 2013. He was loaned out four times before being sold to PSV Eindhoven in 2018. Just a year later City triggered a buy-back clause but after a brief stay in the first team he was loaned back out to RB Leipzig before joining them permanently in summer 2021.
Wilfried Bony
Sold to: Swansea in 2017/2018 season
After an impressive season-and-a-half for Swansea, Bony was a surprise arrival at City in January 2015. He flattered to deceive, scoring just 10 in 46 and after a loan spell at Stoke he rejoined the Welsh side.
Claudio Bravo
Sold to: Real Betis in 2020/2021 season
Goalkeeper Bravo arrived from Barcelona having lifted the Champions League with the Spanish side. He made just 29 league appearances in four seasons and was mostly restricted to cup outings with Ederson’s arrival in 2017 bumping him down the pecking order.
Willy Caballero
Sold to: Chelsea in 2017/2018 season
The Argentine was another goalkeeper who made only a clutch of appearances during his three-year stay. Mostly second fiddle to Joe Hart, more than half of Caballero’s 48 games came in cup competitions.
Bersant Celina
Sold to: Swansea in 2018/2019 season
The Kosovo international played four games in the 2015/16 campaign, three as a sub. After loans at Twente and Ipswich he was sold to Swansea before French side Dijon purchased him in 2020.
Gael Clichy
Sold to: Basaksehir in 2017/2018 season
Six years at the Etihad saw Clichy win two Premier League titles and two League Cups.
Danilo
Sold to: Juventus in 2019/2020 season
Brazilian arrived for big money from Real Madrid but after just two seasons he was on his way, with his Juventus move involving a part-exchange which saw Joao Cancelo arrive at the Etihad.
Fabian Delph
Sold to: Everton in 2019/2020 season
Delph never really made a starting shirt his own during his four-year stay at City, although he did contribute to two Premier League title wins.

The Bosnian was a hugely popular figure in his five years at City, helping them win two Premier Leagues, an FA Cup and League Cup. He scored 50 PL goals and is still operating at the top level, now with Inter Milan.
CJ Egan-Riley
Sold to: Burnley in 2022/2023 season
The centre-half made three senior outings last season before City sold him to Burnley in the summer.
Fernandinho
Sold to: Athletico Paranaense in 2022/2023 season
Another who will go down in City folklore, the Brazilian called time on nine trophy-laden years at the club at the end of last season.

Sold to: Galatasaray in 2017/2018 season
The tough-tackling midfielder made a century of outings in three years before moving to Turkey and is now with Sevilla.
Alex Garcia
Sold to: FC Dinamo in 2020/2021 season
He made a handful of brief appearances and was loaned out twice before heading to Romania. He’s now with Spanish side Girona.
Eric Garcia
Sold to: Barcelona in 2021/2022 season
Part of the famed La Masia academy at Barcelona, Garcia represented quite the coup when City lured him in 2017. Despite the promise, he made just 19 Premier League appearances and returned to Barca on a free in the summer of 2021.
Manu Garcia
Sold to: Sporting Gijon in 2019/2020 season
The Spanish midfielder made one cameo league outing in 2016. He’s now at Greek side Aris.
Joe Hart
Sold to: Burnley in 2018/2019 season
One of the few links between the ‘old’ City and the new era, goalkeeper Hart will always be fondly remembered at the Etihad. He spent 12 successful years at the club and made well over 300 appearances. After spells at Burnley and Spurs, he’s now No.1 at Celtic.
Kelechi Iheanacho
Sold to: Leicester in 2017/2018 season
Striker Iheanacho had a pretty impressive strike rate of 12 goals in 46 league games before City sold him to Leicester for £25m in 2017. Now in his sixth season with the Foxes.
Sold to: Arsenal in 2022/2023 season
The Brazilian left City this summer after winning eight major trophies. Now at Premier League rivals Arsenal, he’s made a fine start to life at the Emirates.
Stevan Jovetic
Sold to: Inter Milan in 2016/2017 season
Jovetic was a bit-part player for most of his time at City and after being loaned to Inter he joined them permanently in 2016. Now at German side Hertha Berlin.
Aleksandr Kolarov
Sold to: Roma in 2017/2018 season
The Serb was a Premier League regular during seven years at the Etihad, with a penchant for scoring from free-kicks. Moved to Italy with first Roma and then Inter. Retired this summer.
Vincent Kompany

Sold to: Anderlecht in 2019/2020 season
Another City legend, Kompany lifted 12 trophies in 11 years with the club. In 2021 he had the honour of a statue of himself being unveiled by the club. Now manager at Championship side Burnley.
Pablo Maffeo
Sold to: Stuttgart in 2018/2019 season
The Spanish defender made three appearances for City in the first half of the 2016/17 season, starting the 1-0 loss to Man United in an EFL Cup tie and the 1-1 draw with Celtic in the Champions League. Now at Real Mallorca.
Eliaquim Mangala
Sold to: Valencia in 2019/2020 season
Signed for a hefty fee from Porto, Mangala never looked like the long-term answer for City. He was loaned out to Valencia and Everton before joining the former on a permanent deal. Now at French side Saint-Étienne.
Arijanet Muric
Sold to: Burnley in 2022/2023 season
The back-up goalkeeper was loaned out five times by City and made just a handful of outings for his parent club, all in cup competitions. Joined up with Kompany at Turf Moor this summer.
Samir Nasri
Sold to: Antalyaspor in 2017/2018 season
The Frenchman enjoyed six years at City, having arrived from Arsenal. After a spell in Turkey and then moves to West Ham and Anderlecht, he retired in 2021.
Jesus Navas
Sold to: Sevilla in 2017/2018 season
For someone who suffered with chronic homesickness, Navas surprisingly spent four years at City. He’s now in the latter stages of his career back in his beloved Seville.
Lukas Nmecha
Sold to: Wolfsburg in 2021/2022 season
Made a handful of outings in the 2018/19 season but was then loaned out numerous times before joining Wolfsburg in 2021.
Nolito
Sold to: Sevilla in 2017/2018 season
An extremely brief stay at the Etihad for the Spaniard who scored six in 30 before returning to Spain after just a season. Now at Ibiza.
Nicolas Otamendi
Sold to: Benfica in 2020/2021 season
Another centre-half who never quite convinced City fans. The glove-wearing Argentine was a regular over five seasons but is now in Portugal.
Patrick Roberts
Sold to: Sunderland in 2021/2022 season
Roberts was hailed as a wonderkid after being poached from Fulham in 2015 but he made just three outings and was loaned out a whopping six times. Looks to have finally found a home on Wearside.
Bacary Sagna
Sold to: Released in 2017/2018 season
The right-back spent three seasons at City but only had a League Cup win to show for it. He was unfortunate in that his stint coincided with the club’s only period of not winning a Premier League title.
Philippe Sandler
Sold to: Feyenoord in 2021/2022 season
Cup outings against Rotherham and Burton represent his only senior action for the club. Now back in the Netherlands with NEC Nijmegen.
Leroy Sane
Sold to: Bayern Munich in 2020/2021 season
Had a big impact at City after a £37m move from Schalke. Given his importance to the side, it was a surprise when Guardiola sold him to Bayern in the summer of 2020. Still a key player for the Bundesliga giants.
David Silva
Sold to: Real Sociedad in 2020/2021 season
Another of the City icons lucky enough to have had a statue made. Silva was a mercurial genius who sprinkled his magic at the Etihad for a decade. Now 36, still plying his trade in La Liga with Sociedad.
Raheem Sterling
Sold to: Chelsea in 2022/2023 season
Many questioned City’s decision to spend almost £50m on Sterling back in 2015 but he justified it with extraordinary scoring stats down the years, hitting double figures in five of seven years. Now at PL rivals Chelsea.
Ferran Torres
Sold to: Barcelona in 2021/2022 season
Torres spent barely 18 months at City having arrived from Valencia. He contributed to the 2020/21 Premier League title win but after just four league games of the next season he left for Barca with City netting a sizeable profit on what they paid for him.
Yaya Toure

Sold to: Released in 2018/2019 season
The midfield enforcer spent eight years at City and remains one of the most popular players in recent history. Score more than 50 league goals and lifted three Premier League titles. After spells in Greece and China he has moved into coaching with Tottenham’s academy.
Pablo Zabaleta
Sold to: West Ham in 2017/2018 season
Spent nine hugely successful years at City, winning two league titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups. A popular figure, he went on to represent West Ham before retiring in 2020.
Oleksandr Zinchenko
Sold to: Arsenal in 2022/2023 season
Zinchenko spent six years at City, making more than a century of appearances. One of two to join Arsenal this summer, along with Jesus.
Bruno Zuculini
Sold to: Hellas Verona in 2017/2018 season
The Argentine, now at River Plate, made one solitary City appearance against Arsenal in the 2014 Community Shield.
