The chiefs of the referees released a statement following an incident where a linesman allegedly elbowed Andy Robertson during the Liverpool vs Arsenal match.

Andy Robertson appeared to be elbowed by assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis, and the PGMOL will investigate the incident after Liverpool’s match against Arsenal concludes.

The PGMOL has stated that they are aware of the incident involving Constantine Hatzidakis and Andy Robertson and will conduct an investigation into it.

According to the organization’s statement: “PGMOL is aware of an incident involving assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson at half-time during the Liverpool v Arsenal fixture at Anfield. We will review the matter in full once the game has concluded.”

Linesman Hatzidakis was carrying the ball towards referee Paul Tierney shortly after he blew the half-time whistle. Robertson of the Reds approached Hatzidakis and appeared to grab him as he walked across the field.

Hatzidakis, on the other hand, reacted angrily, moving his arm back in what appeared to be an elbow towards Robertson’s face. Scotland’s captain was enraged, and Liverpool players surrounded the three match officials as they attempted to leave the field.

As Hatzidakis and Tierney exited the pitch, Robertson, Diogo Jota, and Reds captain Jordan Henderson remonstrated with them. Tierney then booked the Liverpool left-back, much to the chagrin of Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Henderson, and Jota.

A member of Liverpool’s coaching staff eventually led the four away. Jamie Carragher, a Liverpool legend and Sky co-commentator, was the first to notice what had happened, tweeting: “Linesman elbow on Robertson!”

Robertson was furious as he walked down the tunnel, according to Sky Sports reporter Geoff Shreeves. ” he’s just elbowed me in the throat, the linesman has elbowed me in the throat.” he claimed the Scot said.

While Robertson appeared to be the victim of the incident, Liverpool star Roy Keane slammed him at halftime. He described the left-back as a “big baby”

“Do you know what? Does he grab the linesman first? I’m not sure, but Robertson is then complaining. He should be more worried about his defending. Do you know what he is, that Robertson?” Keane told Sky Sports.

“I’ve watched him a number of times, he is a big baby. That’s what that guy is. Just concentrate on the game and get on with your defending. He does grab the linesman first.”

Liverpool and Arsenal drew a thrilling match at Anfield, which became an instant classic. The Gunners took the lead early on thanks to Gabriel Martinelli, who then turned provider to set up Gabriel Jesus for the second goal.

However, an incident involving Granit Xhaka ignited the game, and Mohamed Salah quickly equalized. Late in the game, Roberto Firmino equalized before Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale made a series of stunning saves to secure a point.
