The director of Bayern Munich responds to the news of being matched up against Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Hasan Salihamidzic, the director of Bayern Munich, expressed his eagerness to see his team clash with Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Both teams are considered strong contenders to win the tournament, and the winner of their match will advance to the semi-finals, where they will face either Real Madrid or Chelsea.
Despite the challenging road ahead, Salihamidzic is not intimidated and cited how well the Bundesliga performed against Paris Saint-Germain, including Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, in the previous round. He enjoys playing against top-notch competitors and believes that his team will be highly focused.
Salihamidzic acknowledged the difficulty of the match against Manchester City, whom he considers the strongest opponent. He regards it as another mini-final, given the quality of the opposing team and their convincing win against Leipzig.
“We’ll see Pep Guardiola again. I’m looking forward to it.
“[Erling] Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world. He’s doing very, very well there. But we defended very well against Paris, although I think City are doing even better at the moment.
“I think City vs Bayern is the most exciting duel in the quarter-finals. I think we’re at our best against the best teams. For fans, these games are the highlights of the season.”
In the opposite bracket, Inter will compete against Benfica and AC Milan will confront Napoli. At least one of these four teams will progress to the final.
The dates of City’s Champions League quarter-final matches against Bayern Munich have now been confirmed.
City will play the first leg at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday 11 April with a 20:00 (UK) kick-off.
The return leg at the Allianz Arena will be on Wednesday 19 April, again with a 20:00 (UK) kick-off.
