The Premier League fixtures for Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea season have been released.

The Premier League fixture list for 2023/24 was released today,

In the first Premier League encounter of Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure, Chelsea will host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The schedule for the 2023/24 season has been released, with the Blues facing a stiff test against the Reds on the first weekend of the season. Chelsea’s next opponents are West Ham United (A), Luton Town (H), Nottingham Forest (H), Bournemouth (A), and Aston Villa (H).

On paper, Pochettino could have taken six matches, except the encounter against Liverpool. However, there is a five-match timeframe that could determine how the Blues do in Pochettino’s maiden season at the West London club.

And it all starts with a trip to local rivals Tottenham Hotspur – Pochettino’s old club – on November 4th. A trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Chelsea were defeated 2-0 under Graham Potter in February, comes a week before welcome champions and treble winners Manchester City to Stamford Bridge in what is always a stern test.

The Blues will then have a stiff test against Newcastle United at St James’ Park, where they were defeated 1-0 last season. The Magpies, who will compete in the Champions League in 2023/24, are expected to strengthen once more this summer as Eddie Howe looks to establish himself as a top-four side.

Chelsea will play Brighton at home next, with the Seagulls hoping to reproduce the form they displayed last season under Roberto De Zerbi to reclaim European football. Despite taking an early lead, the Blues were defeated 2-1 at home by Brighton last season.

A trip to Manchester United concludes the five-game run that might define Chelsea’s season. It would be intriguing to see if United can build on their good debut season in England under Erik ten Hag next season. Going to Old Trafford is always a significant test, and regardless of their league standing, Chelsea will have their job cut out for them there.

But, before the season begins, the club has a lot of work to do behind the scenes. The summer transfer window officially started on Wednesday, and Chelsea, in particular, had a hectic first 24 hours.

Arsenal are interested in signing Kai Havertz this summer, with Chelsea willing to trade the Germany international for roughly £70 million. Havertz is open to leaving Stamford Bridge before the start of next season, and the Gunners are set to make a move for him.

Meanwhile, not much has changed in the case of Mason Mount. The England international and his camp are anxious for a resolution as quickly as possible, but Chelsea are attempting to keep Manchester United from signing the Cobham graduate.

Tottenham is also interested in Conor Gallagher, on Wednesday. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is said to be a great fan of Gallagher, who is expected to depart Chelsea permanently this summer.
