The Race for the Manager: Romano’s Claims and the Battle Between Chelsea and Tottenham

Chelsea are moving to make Julian Nagelsmann their new manager as they try to land the Tottenham Hotspur target, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Leicester City parted ways with Brendan Rodgers on Sunday afternoon, and the Blues decided to follow suit.

Graham Potter was fired on Sunday night, less than 24 hours after losing 2-0 at home to Aston Villa.

Potter only joined Chelsea from Brighton and Hove Albion in September, but he has already been given his marching orders.

Todd Boehly and company have lost patience with Potter after 12 wins, eight draws, and 11 losses in 31 games.

Chelsea is now looking for a new manager, and Nagelsmann appears to be a strong contender.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has already made approaches to hire Nagelsmann as their new manager.

Christopher Vivell and Laurence Stewart, two key Chelsea decision-makers, have strong ties to Nagelsmann through the Red Bull operation.

This could help smooth over a deal to bring Nagelsmann to Stamford Bridge, effectively killing Tottenham’s chances.

Nagelsmann, 35, has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur since he was fired by Bayern Munich in March.

In March, The Telegraph reported that Tottenham were in talks with Nagelsmann about replacing Antonio Conte.

Nagelsmann’s future was expected to be decided in the summer, according to reports in Germany.

That wasn’t ideal for Spurs, who were hoping for a firm indication that Nagelsmann was interested in the job.

Tottenham will have wanted some kind of sign after Chelsea fired Potter and seemingly made Nagelsmann their top target.

The Blues can now spend money on Nagelsmann and try to reunite him with Vivell in West London.

This is a huge setback for Tottenham, who are now hoping for a miracle in their pursuit of Nagelsmann.
