The Blues have fewer than four weeks before N’Golo Kante’s contract expires, putting pressure on the club to make a huge decision.

Todd Boehly, owner of Chelsea, has been spotted in Saudi Arabia as the Blues continue to work hard on deals this summer.

The American businessman has faced harsh criticism for actions made during the first year of the takeover with Clearlake Capital at Stamford Bridge. That has only become worse when Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte was let go.

Boehly has also come under fire for allegedly attempting to buy a share in the Portuguese side during the player’s discussions. All eyes are on the club as Mauricio Pochettino eagerly awaits further movement both within and outside of Stamford Bridge.

With most players on vacation, Pochettino preparing for Soccer Aid at Old Trafford next weekend, and more than a month until the start of the pre-season tour of America, it appears Boehly has traveled to the Middle East.

n an image posted on social media, a fan is seen with Boehly alongside the caption: “Today we met the owner of Chelsea, Todd Boyle (sic) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, specifically the capital, Riyadh. He assured us that the future of the club would be bright. Welcome to Saudi Arabia, Todd Boehly.”

The timing of the image could be coincidence, but transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that N’Golo Kante was receiving offers from various Saudi league teams. “Saudi emissaries, in London to present an official proposal to N’Golo Kanté,” he tweeted. Salary bids might exceed €100 million if image rights and commercial partnerships are included.

“Al Ittihad and Al Nassr, on it. Kanté always gave priority to new deal at Chelsea — it was close in March.”

When his contract expires at the end of the month, the Frenchman will be free to leave the club. The 32-year-old has already expressed a desire to continue his development at the club with the project on offer, but no further agreement has been reached as of yet.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea would not be willing to compete with Saudi proposals if they blew one out of the water financially. Chelsea is presently working to reorganize their wage model, and they are aware of Kante’s long-term injury record.

With Boehly apparently in Riyadh but the representatives in London, it could just be bad timing.
