Trent Alexander-Arnold believes Liverpool can stop Marcus Rashford in his tracks and blunt the in-form Manchester United forward.

Erik ten Hag has reinvigorated the England international, and his purple patch in front of goal has played a critical role in United’s four-pronged trophy assault.

Rashford scored his 28th goal for club and country in last weekend’s Carabao Cup final win over Newcastle and will be aiming to get back on the scoresheet at Anfield following a rare blank against West Ham in midweek.

However, Liverpool has had a rough season, and a top-four finish is all Jurgen Klopp’s team has left to play for this season.

Four straight Premier League clean sheets have helped Liverpool claw their way back into contention, but Alexander-Arnold admits it will take a team effort to counter Rashford’s threat on Sunday.

‘The only thing that’s changed is that he’s probably scored a lot more recently, but he’s the same guy, he’s always a threat, and I’m sure he’ll be a threat on Sunday,’ Alexander-Arnold said of his international teammate.

‘It will be a tough game but it’s one I’m looking forward to and it will be a good test.

‘It’s difficult [to stop Rashford]. He’s a player who’s got a lot of weapons in his arsenal but I think it’s more of a team effort, it won’t be just a one-on-one thing.

‘They’ll have more than just Marcus going forward, it’s a team thing and as long the team wins on Sunday, that’s all I’m bothered about.’

On United’s recent revival under Erik ten Hag, the Liverpool right-back added: ‘They’re playing really good football, but the games are never easy when you come up against United.
