Trent Alexander-Arnold predicts Premier League champion with a intense message for Arsenal

The Gunners are still in contention for the Premier League title, but it will be a huge effort to unseat Manchester City. Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has made his feelings about the Premier League title race between Arsenal and Manchester City quite apparent. With just a few weeks left in the season, only one point separates the two teams, and despite the fact that the race is still open, Alexander-Arnold has projected City to win the title, sending a clear message to Arsenal.

With his well-timed cross against the Gunners, the Liverpool right-back was one of the architects of Arsenal’s collapse on the run-in. That late goal was Liverpool’s equalizer against Arsenal, and it was followed by two draws before a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of City.

A strong London derby victory over Chelsea restored some hope, but City have subsequently defeated Fulham and West Ham to make it nine league triumphs in a row. Alexander-Arnold is well aware of how brilliant Pep Guardiola’s team are in the late season run-in, having seen Jurgen Klopp’s side push City to the limit for the Premier League title on countless times.

In a recent interview, the 24-year-old highlighted why City are now a foregone conclusion to win another league title, while also sending a clear message to Arsenal about what to anticipate from the current champions if they find themselves in this position again.

“The league is obvious now and I’ve said it for a while,” he told Red Bull, via Liverpool Echo. “If City are even anywhere close, if they smell blood at Christmas, New Year – it’s game over really. There’s no stopping them once they start winning and, now at this point, I’d be surprised if they drew a game.

“I think it’s got to be a mindset because they don’t even go behind in games at this point. There’s no messing around, there’s no scares, there’s no ups and downs. Arsenal were exciting because, they were dropping points, but in an exciting way. Whereas City, I don’t even know how to describe it, they are like juggernauts.”

This weekend, a new chapter in the title race will be written, and it could be a defining one. On Saturday, City will host Leeds at Etihad Stadium, where alterations could be made ahead of a Champions League match against Real Madrid the following week.

Approximately 24 hours later, Arsenal will face Newcastle at St James Park, the same place where a defeat last season ended their chances of qualifying for the Champions League, and another setback on Sunday could kill their title prospects.
