“What a joke,” says one Manchester United fan, “that weekend is going to drag.”

Manchester United fans are furious after learning that their season opener would be against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

The Premier League has revealed the schedule for the 2023-24 season. The Red Devils have heard that they will begin their season against the Wolves.

On Monday (August 14), they will host Julen Lopetegui’s men at Old Trafford. However, fans are dissatisfied because they would have like to begin their season on the weekend.

Erik ten Hag’s team will attempt to expand on their third-place performance in the league in 2022-23. They also won the Carabao Cup, ensuring their return to the Champions League.

Manchester United, on the other hand, will want to start this season differently than they did the last one. Brighton & Hove Albion defeated them 2-1 at Old Trafford in their lone league setback.

Ten Hag’s men face a Wolves side that spent the duration of the 2023-24 season in the bottom half of the table. The Molineaux team finished 13th, although United will be huge favorites.

The Red Devils may have a slew of new faces when the season begins, as they have been linked with several players this summer. Mason Mount, the Chelsea midfielder, appears to be the most likely arrival at the moment. According to reports, United had a £40 million proposal rejected but are poised to re-enter.

Manchester United will next go to Tottenham Hotspur on August 19, host Nottingham Forest on August 26, and then travel to Arsenal on September 2. It’s a shaky start to the new Premier League season.

The inaugural Manchester derby, against champions Manchester City, takes place on September 28. They also play Chelsea on December 6 and Liverpool 10 days later.

Fans, on the other hand, are dissatisfied with the Red Devils’ decision to begin the season on a Monday. One admirer expressed his dissatisfaction:

“Opening game of the season and it’s a Monday night. What a joke.”

Another supporter expressed his eagerness to see Ten Hag’s soldiers in action:

“That weekend is going to be long.”

Here’s how Twitter responded to Manchester United’s opener against Wolves:

“What a joke,” says one Manchester United fan, “that weekend is going to drag.”
