Why did Enzo Fernandez lash out at Chelsea stars as Gary Neville delivered a harsh verdict? Frank Lampard’s decision
Following Sunday’s 1-0 loss to freshly crowned Premier League winners Manchester City, there are currently only 180 minutes left in the 2022/23 season. A season that has been totally terrible for Chelsea Football Club and one that the club’s devoted support base is eager to see end.
What we saw on Sunday, however, was far from the Blues’ worst performance of the season. Not at all. However, there was a terrible absence of end product, which is now just expected.
Enzo Fernandez was upset with his teammates and the lack of options he had in the 53rd minute of Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester City. When Enzo looked up after entering the final third, he couldn’t see any of his teammates.
Fernandez then furiously thrust his arms out to each side and searched around for his colleagues. It was odd because Chelsea was down 1-0 at the time, and Frank Lampard would have undoubtedly pushed his teammates to join the attack more in the second half.
Lampard’s body language in the first half, according to Gary Neville, did not reflect good on many of his players. At one point, the Sky Sports camera swung to the temporary Chelsea manager, who cut a depressed figure after his team conceded a clumsy goal in the game.
“Every time I look at Frank Lampard, he has the look of a manager who doesn’t like his players,” Neville stated on commentary. Chelsea really needs the season to conclude.”
While the Manchester City players were preparing to take the field and win their third Premier League title in as many seasons, there were still Chelsea players in and around the tunnel area. Conor Gallagher was one of them, and the Blues midfielder congratulated Jack Grealish before the City forward re-entered the field.
Wesley Fofana was standing next to Gallagher, and the Frenchman shown amazing sportsmanship by nodding at a couple City players and winking at Bernardo Silva.
