Arsenal Deploys Scouts to Monitor RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons

Arsenal has reportedly deployed scouts to observe Xavi Simons, a 20-year-old Paris Saint-Germain loanee currently playing at RB Leipzig.

Simons had a successful 2022-23 season with PSV Eindhoven, contributing 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games before returning to PSG last summer.

After activating a £5.1m buy-back clause in Simons’s deal, PSG loaned the attacker to Leipzig for the current season, where he has provided seven goals and nine assists in 29 appearances.

Simons has played a role in Leipzig’s ascent to fourth place in the Bundesliga and their progress to the Champions League knockout rounds.

Arsenal, previously interested in Simons last summer but losing to PSG, is reportedly reigniting their interest, with recent scouts’ observations of Bundesliga players, including Simons.

Leipzig’s Lois Openda and Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong are also reportedly on Arsenal’s radar.

While PSG has no plans to sell Simons in the January transfer window and he is under contract until the summer of 2027, Arsenal may face competition, particularly from Manchester United, if they pursue Simons in the summer.

Other clubs, including Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Inter Milan, are also reportedly interested, but Simons may prefer a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal is also rumored to be considering a new center-forward, with Ivan Toney from Brentford, Victor Osimhen from Napoli, Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, and Victor Boniface from Leverkusen among their potential targets.
