Ten Hag Gambles with England’s Star Player as Leaked PSG Meeting Raises Stakes for Man Utd
Erik ten Hag may have to live without a brilliant England attacker next season after his agent negotiated a big transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, according to one source.
Marcus Rashford can already provide goals for Ten Hag. After struggling last season, the left winger has burst onto the scene this season, scoring 29 goals in 53 games across all competitions. It is his greatest senior season to date.
Rashford would be an easy choice for Ten Hag at center-forward, where the manager hopes to replace Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst. However, the Manchester-born star prefers to play on the left wing, where he can cut inside and cause havoc for defenders.
As a result, Ten Hag has shifted his eyes to Rashford’s fellow England star Harry Kane as a possible striker replacement.
Kane has scored the same number of goals as Rashford this season, but in 47 games as opposed to 53. Because of Erling Haaland’s outstanding season, the Tottenham star’s accomplishments have gone somewhat unnoticed this season.
Kane adores Tottenham but may leave this summer if he does not believe the club is on the right track. His future will be heavily influenced by their next managerial appointment.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is adamant about keeping Kane, but his bargaining position is deteriorating as the attacker’s contract ends in summer 2024.
Man United are hoping to take advantage of the situation by signing him for less than £100 million before the start of the new season. However, it appears like they will face competition from French heavyweights PSG.
PSG want to hijack Man Utd swoop
Foot Mercato has highlighted the current state of play as PSG prepare for the possible departure of Kylian Mbappe. The Ligue 1 star is once again being linked with a summer move to Real Madrid.
Victor Osimhen, who previously shined in the French top flight with Lille, is a passionate fan of PSG. But the Napoli talisman is determined on a Premier League move, with Manchester United and Chelsea also interested.
As a result, PSG is interested in Kane instead. Luis Campos, their sporting adviser, has met with Kane’s agent to discuss a possible move to the French city.
The pair talked discussed Kane’s ambitions for his career and what he hopes to achieve after leaving Spurs.
Given their dominance in the French league and cups, PSG may provide the 29-year-old with regular trophies. They will also have communicated to Kane their desire to win the Champions League, but considering their recent problems in the league, he may be skeptical.
Kane appears to be focused on breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record. He is currently on 210, 50 behind Newcastle’s iconic player.
PSG will need to go on a massive charm drive to persuade Kane to abandon this and instead strive for local and European glory with them. They also have the financial means to offer him a lucrative contract worth far more than the Spurs can.
Manchester United remains one of the frontrunners to sign England’s record scorer and perhaps the Three Lions’ best player, but they must now boost up their pursuit as PSG plans a major transfer hijacking.
